About Us

Livewire, the parent company behind Green Gift Cards, have been operating and innovating in the card market since 2006 and are widely seen to be a leader in the environmental alternative field. We launched Green Gift Cards back in 2011 to start to drive change and environmental responsibility in the card sector after becoming frustrated with the industry and its impact on the climate.

At that time Green Gift Cards was ahead of its time, but is now working even harder to ride the wave of public, government and activist interest in providing solutions to the plastic pollution crisis. It was our view that if more innovators and entrepreneurs create planet saving ideas in their chosen field, then collectively over time we can all have a positive effect and slowly reverse the damage we have done to our natural world. Green Gift Cards founder Graham Lycett is doing just that, determined to leave a positive legacy and make a positive impact in the card market.

How have we done it?

Our early adoption and relentless pursuit of refining the best possible alternative to plastic has put us in a market leading position. Add to that more than a decade of working hard to form strategic partnerships with manufacturers and the supply chain, and you have a number of compelling USPs that set us apart from rest.

This approach earned us the much coveted Plastic Free Trust Mark Certification for our cards.

A Plastic Planet is a non-profit organisation that is driving big changes in business and governments around the world. They aim to ignite and inspire the world to turn off the plastic tap. 

In pursuit of change in the single and limited use plastic card sectors and to reduce their environmental impact, Green Gift Cards founder Graham Lycett has developed a bit of an obsession.  This obsession is to make an impact and leave a positive environmental legacy.

We work with clients across multiple markets in the UK, Europe and worldwide including retail, finance, hotels, travel and leisure.  

Our strategy is to remove the burden on the consumer and card issuer on how to deal with the card at the end of its short life. Our solution removes the need for specialist and expensive recycling and most importantly avoids sending the cards to incinerators and landfill. We will continue to educate organisations on how simple it is to switch to cards that are certified plastic-free, compostable and recyclable in regular household waste streams.
