At GGC, we offer two main types of printing: Litho (Lithography/Lithographic and offset printing) and Digital printing. Both have their advantages, which we use to benefit your gift card or membership scheme.
Litho is the traditional printing technique that uses plates to transfer ink onto our paperboard gift cards. Making the plates and running the ‘spare’ materials that are required, until all the plate imagers are registered does take time to set up.
However, once this is done, the cost per copy will be cheaper than digital (depending on quantity).
At the other end of the spectrum is Digital Printing. Thanks to the minimal set-up costs, digital printing offers a faster turnaround time and great value on small-run prints.
Digital printing uses a four-colour process reproduction method which uses electric print-ready files (e.g. PDFs) and dots of colour to produce the print using ink and toner. Unlike Litho printing, no plates are required or waiting for ink to dry, which all contributes to a faster turnaround and lower printing costs (depending on quantity).
